When I was a kid, the Bernstein Bears books were always my favorite. There was one in the series called "The Bernstein Bears Get the Gimmes”. I'm ashamed to say that Americans today have gotten the same exact thing. I am so sick and tired of this attitude from so many among us that they should be entitled to things that they did not earn. I'm getting more than just a little annoyed at this "poor me" mentality. We have so many people in this country that think that it is the job of the government to take from the people who have worked hard their entire lives to get where they are, and give it to them, the people who haven't. That is what Barack Hussein Obama is all about, steal from the rich and give to the poor. Remember the whole "spread the wealth around" idea? This Robin Hood idea doesn't work in this country because if we take all the money from the rich, then there will be nobody to employ the middle class. I don't know about you, but I've never had a boss that was on welfare. It doesn't work that way. People hate the rich out of jealousy. It is a common theory that the rich are all stuck up snobs that deserve to be punished. Many want the fancy cars, the boats, the flat screen TVs, among other things, but they don't want to take the risks or make the sacrifices that it takes to earn those things. And sacrifice is a huge part of success. It is a well-known fact that 80-90% of millionaires are self-made. Another commonly forgotten point, is that if we tax the rich to ridiculous levels, as the far left wants the government to do, it will prevent them from buying products that Americans are employed to produce. For example, when a millionaire buys a yacht, he’s putting the people who built that yacht to work. The lumber company, the construction company, the company that made the propeller, the company that sold the boat, each of these companies has employees that wouldn’t have jobs if it weren’t for the final customer, “the rich guy”. Something that many people don’t understand is that if you tax the rich more than we already are, then they won’t be able to afford these things, and unemployment would skyrocket.
How did this happen? Why can't we be the country that we once were? Why can't we be the hard working Americans who take pride in what we do, and accept things for the way they are? On the contrary, many Americans decide to blame others for their struggles, and constantly complain about the way things are going in their lives, but aren't willing to do anything to change it. It makes them feel better if their problems are all someone else's fault.
It has been said, that Democracy can only last until the voters realize that they can vote themselves benefits from the treasury. In other words, Democracy will crash whenever people elect whichever government official that promises to give them more out of someone else’s pocket. That's when democracy fades away, and socialism comes into play, which is already happening. We elected Barack Obama because he promised to even the playing field, to make everything "fair". He promised to take money from the people who have earned it, and give it to the people who haven't. That is practically the definition of socialism. It is not what this country was founded on, and is not what the majority of Americans want.
The new healthcare bill is a perfect example of this. Enough people voted for Obama because he promised to give them something for free, while taking from someone else. That's exactly what this bill is about. The people who don't have good health insurance decided that it was our responsibility to take care of their problems. It doesn't matter to them that every country that has adopted this plan has suffered because of it. It doesn't matter to them how many people come here from Canada because they have a similar system that tells them it will take months, and in some cases years, for them to get any kind of treatment. It doesn't matter to them that thousands of doctors are going to get out of the healthcare system when the government takes over. It doesn't matter to them how many people are going to be hurt because now they're covered, and it's all about them. It's ironic, because this is extremely selfish behavior, and that is their biggest complaint about the rich. Maybe hypocritical is a better word than ironic in this case.
We also live in a country that believes that if you are in the minority, you are automatically a victim. If you are in the minority, whether it be "sexual orientation", race, class, etc., it's assumed that you don't have the same opportunities that those in the majority do. In many countries, that may be a true statement, but not here. We all have the same opportunities, but we simply have plenty of people who choose not to take advantage of them. That being said, it's not my responsibility as a taxpayer to take care of them, nor is it yours. If someone is in a minority group that simply means that there are fewer people in that group than in the majority group, so let's not make it mean more than it does. Millions of people come to this country because of the opportunities here, so don't try to tell me that someone who comes here (whether legally or otherwise) has less of a chance than someone who was born here. Unfortunately this argument has worked for them, and we are currently paying for it. There are millions on welfare who shouldn't be and for many of them, they had a better Christmas than you and I put together.
So how do we change this, or better yet, is it even possible? Is it too late? Has Washington done enough damage that it cannot be reversed? Well there isn't a good answer. It's possible to change this, but people have to vote out Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Christopher Dodd, along with every other congressman that voted for the healthcare bill. At this point it's too late for them to veto the healthcare bill, but there are appeals calling it unconstitutional since they're forcing Americans to buy health insurance. Also, if enough conservatives are elected to the congress, they can de-fund the healthcare bill, which would definitely cause damage to it. So the answer is to educate yourself and vote! Most of the people who are for Obama know nothing about him. They blindly support him, and don't know that while he was probably born here, he didn't grow up here. He grew up in Jakarta Indonesia under the name Barry Soetoro. They don't know who Bill Ayers, Luis Farahahn, Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, Van Jones are, and that's a very short list of the shady people that Obama has surrounded himself with. The point is that it's not only possible, but easy to challenge Obama supporters, because many of them simply don't know what they're talking about! Because of that, you can possibly change their minds by simply knowing facts about Obama. And they absolutely have to be FACTS. We cannot go out and make things up about him as people did about Bush for so many years, because we're better than that. We have enough evidence against his character through things that we know are true. We don't need conspiracy theories or rumors to convince people of whom and what he is, his own actions and words have done that for him! So do some research, read a few articles, listen to talk radio, and continue to be well informed. Our opponents are not, which is how we know that they're wrong. Through statistics we know that the majority of people who consider themselves liberal don't even know who Nancy Pelosi is! Yet I'm sure that if they saw her on TV and saw a D beside her name and that she was standing beside the president clapping, they would gladly support her! We can vote her out, along with all of those crooks who bribed and threatened congressmen to vote for this healthcare bill, and we're going to do it!
